PhotoCake® I Cake Decorating System

PhotoCake® I Technical Tips

Run a color test each day that you are going to use the PhotoCake® system:
If white lines are visible, you need to:
  • Prime the cartridge with the suction bulb.
  • Refill the cartridge (each cartridge can be refilled 2 times). Be careful not to over fill.
  • Replace the cartridge.
  • Clean the cartridge service tray weekly.
System says the print process is completed, but no print was produced.
Be sure to follow the print procedure:
  • Turn on the system.
  • Feed the media into the printer by pressing "Feed Backward" until the media is halfway into the printer. Press "Load".
  • Wait until the load process has completed and the cartridges are back in the station. Touch "Print".
  • If you touch the print button before the load process is completed, the system will go off line and the green light will remain flashing on the printer. No print will be produced.
Printer light is flashing.
  • The printer is off-line.
  • Turn off the printer by disconnecting the power source at the back of the printer (red letter "A"). Reconnect the power source and wait for the cartridge to return to the service station.
The scanner is not auto-detecting the photos, it prints the same size as the photo:
  • Clean both the lid and glass of the scanner.
  • If the inside lid of the scanner is white and has any visible color marks on it, remove the marks by cleaning it.
  • If the lid of the scanner is black and has any visible marks on it, remove the marks.

PhotoCake® General Maintenance

PhotoCake® General Maintenance

  • Once a month, clean the scanner glass and the underside of the scanner lid with a mild detergent applied to a lint-free cloth.
**DO NOT SPRAY ANY LIQUIDS DIRECTLY ONTO THE SCANNER.
  • After giving the system a command, wait for the system to respond before entering a new command. You can stall the system by giving it too many commands to process.
  • Be patient when browsing for images from a CD/DVD or memory card, there will be a slight delay from when you press the scroll button until you see the system respond (PhotoCake® III only).
Regular Maintenance

Perform a color test on the printer upon starting the system up for the first time each day. Make sure all cartridges are functioning properly. If all the colors are not printing on the sheet and/or if there are broken lines within the color or black grids, perform a print head cleaning test.
